Default Unable To Spellcheck New Messages

My friend is running Outlook Express 6 with latest updates on Windows XP Home
SP2 with latest updates.

When he creates a new email message and goes to Tools - Spelling, the
spelling command is greyed-out and he isn't able to spellcheck his emails.

Can anyone help?

OE 6 does not come with it's own spell check. You need Word or an MS Office
program. The spell checker in Works 4 through 6 will work with OE, but not
other editions. If you do not have such a program, you can download a free
spell check at one of these sites.

http://www.tinyspell.m6.net/ (Checks the spelling as you type).

Sure, http://www.mozilla.org/thunderbird/ Free, and it has a built in
spam filter and spelling program. You can also import everything from
Outlook Express.
