I have a desktop PC running XP Home SP2, DSL connection. Outlook
Express 6 SP2 is my email and newsgroup program. Just recently, I discovered that when I try to open .ppt (PowerPoint presentation files) via email an error window pops up saying..."This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel." I already have the free PowerPoint Viewer 2003 program installed, and it is already configured to open those types of programs. In fact, when I save a PowerPoint Presentation to my hard drive, I can open them with no problem. But why am I getting that error message when I try to open them via Outlook Express?? |

PPT or PPS?
There is a conflict with PPS and XP/SP2. See this link for a fix: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/ppsopen.htm -- Bruce Hagen MS MVP - Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "History Fan" wrote in message ... Perhaps this will help: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=883260 Also, save one to your HDD and right click on it | Properties | Open With | Choose Program. Select the program that works and check the box: Always use this program to open these kinds of files. -- Bruce Hagen MS MVP - Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ |
