pls help me clarify
No problem. Your ISP's POP3 server is the server that receives your
incoming mail. Your ISP's SMTP server is where you send outgoing mail. --- Ted Zieglar "Backup is a computer user's best friend." roe5823 wrote: I need help to understand what is POP# or SMTP server. |

pls help me clarify
POP3 = Post Office Protocol
SMPT = Simple Mail Transfer Protocol The POP server is the one provided by your email provider, which may also be your ISP but it can be anybody, so you need a name and password for this server. The SMTP server is the one you send your mail out through, and usually you do NOT need a name and password for this server because it is the one provided by your ISP and he already knows who you are because you are signed on to his network. You can get email addresses from other people but most times you only change the POP server name, not the SMTP server name because sending is always through that same one. Hope this helps and does not make things worse Charlie "roe5823" wrote in message ... I need help to understand what is POP# or SMTP server. |
