Auto-complete is remembering a bad email address I once entered and is
offering that as the sole choice until I enter almost the entire address. To make up an example, the bad auto-complete entry is like instead of . (Please don't suggest relying on auto-resolve instead! I'm not using an address book and auto-resolve at the moment because I want to figure out how to share a single address book between Corel WordPerfect and Outlook Express.) I have not been able to figure out how to fix that. OE doesn't seem to rely on the Registry for auto-complete, and doesn't seem to use an .NK2 cache file like Outlook. Anyone know how OE auto-completes addresses (or simply how I can fix this)? --John Hupp |

Hi John,
This auto-complete you are referring to, is it when entering information in the "To:", "Cc:" or "Bcc:" of an email message? On my Outlook Express 6, and I have put a check mark in Options under the Send tab to "Automatically complete e-mail addresses when composing", retrieves it's information from the address book. To be safe, open your current Address Book and File | Export | Address Book
(wab) and send a copy to My Documents should a backup be needed. With OE closed, do a search for *.wab and include Hidden Files and Folders. You will find a few. Open each one in the search results and you should find one, or more, that contains the bad address. Delete the address there, or if you are confident that it is an address book that you are definitely not using, you can delete the entire book. Shut down the computer and then reboot. (Don't select Restart). See if that helps. -- Bruce Hagen MS MVP - Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "John Hupp" wrote in message ... Hi John,
As to your statement: "I want to figure out how to share a single address book between Corel WordPerfect and Outlook Express". You might try posting a query about your statement in this newsgroup. I do not have WordPerfect, but do know that some others who monitor this newsgroup do, perhaps they can suggest how they handle the address book situation. I use the Windows Address Book as my primary. Thanks, Ken and Bruce.
Though it is logical, I was surprised to learn that OE uses the WAB for auto-completion. I thought it did a look-up in the WAB only for auto-resolution. I was also surprised to find that I had a bad entry in my address book. As they say, life is full of surprises! --John Hupp "John Hupp" wrote in message ... Hi John,
Your reply confirms how I thought OE auto-complete functioned. I want to figure out how to share a single address book between Corel
WordPerfect and Outlook Express. Hi John, As I said before I use Windows Address Book as my primary. I use Open Office http://www.openoffice.org/ , and have it set to use the Windows Address Book, perhaps WordPerfect has a similar setting. If not, no matter which address book you use as your primary, either can be shared using Import/Export.
