Default outlook express setup

This basic for many of you but i'm old. i recently had my desktop
overhauled, in warranty, and started over again. Outlook express is oprating
OK but it insists i use a password to get in even tough i didn't require one.
on the logon box the "remember password"s checked but it doesn't do it. in
the "add an identity" box i do not check the password box but it requires one
anyway.
any help??

If it's happening to open Outlook Express, that would likely be an
Identity password. To change that, go to File, Identities, Manage
Identities, select the identity being used, then Properties.

If it's happening when you go to download mail, that would be the mail
server password which the server requires. You have no choice in that.
But Outlook Express can be set to store the password and send it to the
mail server when needed. If the Save Password is checked but doesn't
seem to work, then see:
Cannot Save E-Mail Account Password in Outlook Express
(Webroot Software Window Washer)

Outlook Express Does Not Save the Mail Server Logon Password

Your Password Is Not Retained in Windows 2000 or XP

Another possibility, is if you have a cable or DSL connection, but
Outlook Express has been told to use a dial-up connection, it's trying
dial the ISP. Check your settings in Outlook Express at Tools,
Accounts, Mail/News, Properties, Connection for each mail and news
account. One or more of the accounts may be set to always dial a
specific connection. You don't want that option in OE UNLESS you
actually are using a dial-up connection.
