maybe a bit of a strange question but here you go:
one of our public calendars at work is used to list all out events. these
events then need to be re-typed onto our website so that are viewable to
web-users.
1. is it possible to publish a public calendar onto our website?
2. if yes, is it possible for some events to be viewable and others not?
i.e. a talk is 'public' but a staff meeting isn't.
3. if yes to both/either questions, is there some kind soul who could tell
me how to do it?

this is a calendar in a public folder? yes, its possible to make it
accessible to the public, but no, you can't hide all of the appointments -
use two calendars instead.

what version of outlook and exchange do you have?

Thanks! we using Outlook 2003 on Small Business Server 2003
does this mean we can embedd the public clendar within our website then?
that would be so good!

you need to give Anonymous permission to view it and can either link to it
or embed it. Linking is much easier.

another option would be to use Outlook 2007 and publish the calendar to the
internet using a webDAV server or hosted service. We publish ours by
enabling webDAV on our webserver and phpicalendar. The phpicalendar will
read your .ics calendar file automatically and convert it to a web view which
is much nicer than the defaul saving to a web page. In addition, the
calendar is updated automatically every hour. If you don't have a webserver
or expertise to install phpicalendar, you can use a hosting facility and test

Second Question: you can hide certain appointments by marking them private
and selecting the option to not publish private meetings.
