Default All meetings are recurring

One of my users kept complaining that they were getting reminders about
meetings that didn't exist. After checking is seams that whenever he accepts
an invite to a meeting Outlook sets it up as a recurring meeting even when
it's not.

He now has hundreds of fictitious meetings. How can this be resolved? We are
running Outlook 2007 with Exchange Server 2003.
