Default Public Folder appointments do not display resources in user calendar

Our company has a public diary - a public folder of appointments. If I create
an entry and invite myself, attendees and resources, then in my own calendar I
can see attendees but not resources (under the scheduling tab). Is this a
consequence of creating the appointment under a public folder? If so then how
do I create an appointment in my own calendar and get it to appear in the
public diary too? (I've tried inviting the public diary but it is not listed
anywhere.)

All the resources have editor permission for their Outlook Calendar resource
scheduling permissions.

MS Outlook 2002, Exchange 2003.

Thanks

The Exchange administrator can mail-enable the public calendar folder, which would allow you to invite it to meetings.

Thanks Sue. I can log on as Administrator and have mail-enabled our folder
Public Diary. Since this entity is not a mail user, how do I get it to
automatically accept invites? Currently they all appear as tentative in the
folder display.

Regards

SweetPea

You'd have to run either an Exchange event sink against that folder or have someone accept them manually.

Maybe now you're starting to see why mailboxes, not public folders, are usually used as resource calendars?

Yes indeed Sue! Unfortunately the folder was inherited and I _would_ like to
change it to a mail user. With many future appointment entries I think it
might be difficult to get people to change over (they would have to run the two
mechanisms in parallel for some time). Having looked at event sinking, I don't
feel inclined to go down that route.

Thank you for getting me this far.
