Your Outlook version is always in play so please post that up front.

Having said that, under Tools-options-calendar options-planner options
and ensure none of the check boxes are checked.

question without my version . . . apologies. (Outlook 2003, by the way)

I will check the settings you mention. Sounds like a good place to start.
