Default Scheduling appointments through pop

I am using using Outlook 2003 with exchange and trying to schedule
appointments with someone using Outlook 2003 with pop (gmail is the server.)

For the most part, it works ok. I schedule an appointment, include the
gmail user as an attendee, and they get the appointment and can
accept/reject it. However, if the gmail user edits their accept response, I
don't see any of their notes - just the note that they accepted it. Also,
if they propose a new time, all I get is the tentative acceptance - I can't
see the new proposed time.

Is this supposed to work through pop, or should I just not expect to be able
to do this?

If the recipient forces rich text format on the response, do you see the
entire response/propose new time? Are you sure they are using Outlook 2003?

I don't believe you have the option of choosing HTML, Rich Text, or Plain
text when composing a appointment or a response to an appointment - only
when composing an email.

I have tried changing the default mail format settings to plain text, rich
text, and html, and that doesn't seem to make a difference to an appointment
or response to an appointment. Maybe this is the problem - Outlook is
forcing Rich Text and something in the formatting isn't making it through
pop or gmail properly. I have another pop account I will test with to see
if the problem is just gmail.

I have also tested this with another email provider (xmission.com) using pop
with the same results. It appears that appointments just don't work
properly through pop, at least not with the default settings. Is there some
way to make it work?

And yes, the pop user is using Microsoft Outlook 2003.

Sorry for the multiple posts - just wanted to say that I have also tried
disabling the "iCalendar" option in tools-options-preferences-calendar,
on both sides, and it still doesn't work.

Ok I figured it out - you have to access the properties of the contact you
are sending to and force rich text there (sorry, I get what you were saying
earlier now.)

(Double click recipent, tell outlook to send in rich-text only, or if a
contact box pops up instead when you double click them, then double click
their email address and you will get the option to send in rich text.)

Thanks for steering me in the right direction.
