Default "Open Recurring Item" dialog box NOT dispayed

URGENT HELP NEEDED. I'm trying to Cancel an instance of a recurring meeting.
When I open the meeting by double clicking on it from Calendar view, the
"Open Recurring Item" dialog box is not showing up and automatically it the
entire series is opened. When I Cancel the whole series of this recurring
meeting gets cancelled. I need to cancel ONLY ONE instance of the meeting.
