Default remove reminder in recieved appointment

I have reminders turned off as default when I create appointments in my
caledar. However when I accept a meeting request the reminder that came
with it carries forward into my calendar. Can I remove these reminders
by default whenever I get a meeting request with an associated
reminder. Thank you in advance.
