Default Duplicate Appointment Conflicts

When I hit send a receive in Outlook 2002 the appointments in my calendar
become duplicated, and have the 'crossed swords' conflict icon next to them.
I can't see any options to automatically overwrite the duplicate entries.

Can anyone help?

Thanks
