Default Allow declined meetings to appear on Outlook Calender

I do not understand why there is not a function to allow declined meetings to
be displayed on my calendar. Frequently you decline a meeting because of
something else. The something else changes, but you no longer even know that
the meeting you declined is occurring.

THis is something that has bugged me for ages and I cannot fathom that there
is any good reason why the option to decline a meeting but still display it
on the calendar does not exist!

Why not leave it onthe calendar as tentative?

I don't want declined meetings, deleted mail, or other stuff I have DECIDED
I don't need in my mailbox. What good does it do to see that "Hey, I have 5
meetings I am not going to today!"

Do as Brian suggests, make the meeting tentative if you think it might be
important.

I agree with this and like the idea. My calendar is not just a listing of
future activities, but a history of past activities. Since I gladly traded in
my DayTimer for Outlook, I archive my calendar and if I ever need to know
when something occured I can look it up. Many of my employees invite me to
meetings that I may not be able to attend but do so as an easy way to let me
know that the meeting is taking place. I currently use the workaround of
making it tentative and responding that I actually won't be there, but that's
a workaround. I'd like to be able to decline it, but still have it displayed
on my calendar with Show Time As set to Free. Maybe it could also say
"Declined: " at the begining like it does with "Updated:". This would allow
me to: a) have a record of the meeting, and b) serve as a reminder if I want
to call and ask the organizer how it went. I think this would be a cool
feature and have discussed it with a number of people that also agree.
