Default can't add to calendar

New computer. I have set up my profile without email connections and have
imported my old (Outlook 2007) .pst file. I can edit my old calendar entries
which were imported. But can't add new calendar entries. Error message "You
do not have appropriate permissions to do this operation".

Can anyone suggest how this can be fixed.

Please explain how you "imported" the PST file, as truly importing causes
numerous problems.

I chose import & export wizard import from another program or file which
was copied to my desktop. I had checked that it was not read only before
importing.

Importing from a PST is rarely a good idea. If you want to access the data in
the PST exactly as it exists in the PST, open the PST, don't import it. In
Outlook, click FileOpenOutlook Data File. You can even make the process
easier by simply reusing the original PST as the default PST by adding the old
PST to the mail profile using the Mail applet and then setting that PST as
default. When you open Outlook then, it will look exactly as it did before.
