Thanks, I thought they looked the same. The version is 5.50.4131.1600.

That's IE5.5 (no Service Packs).

Ignore our little sidebar exchanges, Martyn: The DBX files and Address Book
will both import & function properly.

I've done this now and everything looks fine on my friend's old
machine. Another question comes to mind, however: will it be
possible, at some future date, to merge DBX files from two different
sources on a new PC, using OE's "File, Import" function?
