If you drag it onto the date, when you release the right mouse button, you
should see several copy/move options = context menu.

|||| then right-click and drag it to the Calendar folder. From the
|||| context menu choose "Copy here as appointment with text". Now the
|||| new appointment form will have the contact details filled in to the
|||| message area.
