Default What the number between parenthesis in front of "Calendar" means

It means you have 6 "unread" items in that particular Calendar folder. If
you change your view of the Calendar to a table view, you should be able to
pick out the unread items which will be in bold text, and open them -- the
blue number in parens will go away.

Can anyone please explain, in "My Calendars" what the number between
parenthesis means? In my case it shows (6) in blue font like if it was a link!
