If you use "KC-" (without the quotes of course) rather than the colon, do
the rules run then?

After furious head scratching, asked:

| We use various codes internally to process emails. One of the codes is
| "KC:" and people have "rules" to sort and process these emails. For
| some reason, when you reply or forward a message with "KC:" as the
| first 3 charecters in the subject header, Outlook 2003 decides to
| delete the "KC:" and replace it with either "" or "FW:". I've
| chalked it up to mostly outlook trying to emiminate the "FW: FW: FW:"
| issues with multiple fwd's, but this issue doesn't happen consistently
| and that is what has me most confused.
