Try the "Windows Installer Clean Up Utility". That might be able to
remove it (just google the term).
If you don't mind the add-in being there, you can just add any other RSS
reader add-in. The add-in cannot have a monopoly on being the RSS
reader, so two of them shouldn't be a problem.
