Default OE6 starts messenger

Stop Windows Messenger from Auto-Starting:

Disable the Contacts Pane. View | Layout.

If that does not do it, see:

http://www.fjsmjs.com/OE/disabmes.htm

And, you can try this:

Go to StartRunRegeditOK. Find and delete the
following Registry Key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER
\Software
\Microsoft
\Windows
\CurrentVersion
\Run
\MSMSGS - {Right click on MSMSGS & delete it}

For XP/SP2 only: If you want to disable Windows Messenger completely, use
the Manage Add-on feature.
Open IE | Tools | Manage Add-ons. Disable Windows Messenger. It can be
enabled in the future if you wish.

When I reboot or start my computer and I launch OE6, I've noticed that
it also launches Messenger. When I go to close messenger it states
that it can't close because another program is using it (I've always
had OE open when this message comes up) When I close OE then I can
shutdown Messenger. I have gone to the tools options and the field to
launch messenger when oe 6 starts is not checked.
I've gone to the msconfig in the start run, and unchecked messenger
from the startup sequence but it doesn't stop it from starting back up
again.
Anyone have any idea what is causing this ?
