Attachments don't float somewhere out in the cyber ether while disconnected
from e-mails. Attachments are *in* e-mails. Why did you install or leave
installed Windows Live Mail if you don't want to use it? If you want to
default to opening *e-mails* in Outlook Express, make it your default e-mail
client (Internet Options - Programs tab).

Whether or not Outlook Express is available on your host depends on WHICH
version of Windows you have but never mentioned.
