Default importing address book

We're not confused, but you are.
There is no separate address book in Outlook. All Contact data resides in
Contact Folders in the PST file.
If yours are not, it is most likely because you migrated data incorrectly.
Never, ever overwrite a PST file. Just open it, like William told you.

That seemed to open all the "tasks" i am using, but I didnt see where it
opened the Address book.
I have, in the past had to format my hard drive. I would back up the pst
file onto a cd. My pst file is huge. After formatting and reinstalling
Outlook, I would over write the newly created pst file with my file and i
would have all my folders, tasks, and addresses.
I thought the addresses were in the pst file along with the inbox and
folders.
However someone told me about a pab file, which is the personal address
book? Is that what i need to import in to my new profile?
Also after creating a new profile i had to create a new account from the
tools/email accounts.
Does Ken Slovak's book Absolute Beginner's Guide to Microsoft Office
Outlook 2003 go into detail about pst files, profiles and address books? I
hope he has a book on Outllok 2002.
I appreciate your help and I hope I havnt confused you.

There are many Outlook books that would cover this. Outlook 200_? I
would certainly recommend Ken Slovak's book Absolute Beginner's Guide to
Microsoft Office Outlook 2003

If your contacts are in another .pst file, then you can use Outlook to
open the old .pst file as well (File--Open--Outlook Data File (I think
this reads: Personal Folder File in versions prior to Outlook 2003))
Then you can expand the old .pst and drag and drop the contacts you want
in the new .pst.

Will that do it?

I created another profile, and it is using an entirely different .pst
file and address book. Using a different pst file is ok. How can i import
the address book from my default outlook profile in to the profile i just
created?
I have attempted this a few times and have had to go to my restore point
numerous time...lol.. I went to some help pages on Microspft but most
of what i saw was for Outlook Express, I have Ooutlook 200. Is there an
Outlook for Dummies book? thanks
