Default OL2003 Auto inserts space before ? and !

Double checked. There are no AutoCorrect settings for ? or !.

Dictionary is set to English (U.S.) for what that's worth.

check autocorrect first. Make sure you don't have a definition to convert
! to " !" and ? to " ?".

Not French. Plain old English.

Where are places I should look to see if something is set correctly.
Where is the keyboard setting? It's not in Control Panel that I can find
(WinXP Pro SP3)

Outlook reacts to whatever you have your keyboard set to. Check that.

My languages - keyboard, etc - are all set to British and I have no
problems with auto space insert, neither in Outlook nor Word, so the
British English thing doesn't look correct. Googling "space before
question mark" threw up a Wikipedia reference to what is called French
punctuation, where it is customary to insert a space before query or
screamer. Vous n'etes pas francais?
