Default 0utlook 2007 address book

Yes, it seems strange. Use the resolve tool at
http://www.chapura.com/downloads_utilities.php to fix it.

I used a csv so I could open in excel if need be with out outlook. As far
as
not having the original pst, I didn't discard by choice. As I said my old
computer died. Thanks for the link for resolving files/

the contacts I imported are not underlined so I guess they are not
resolved.
Its strange taht the name would still show up in the field when I click on
"To".

A CSV is a valid back up - its smaller than a pst, does not require
outlook
to access, and works well with other applications.

If the name shows up when he clicks To, the addresses should be resolved.
He can check by looking at the actual contacts he imported - the email
address is underlined, they are resolved. If the selections work and the
mail goes out they are resolved.

What if I don't have the original pst file any more.

Never get rid of the origional data until you know beyond a doubt the
new
environment works. That's just common sense.

You'll need to modify each bad contact to force Outlook to resolve the
address. One tools that can help is the *free* "Resolve E-mail Address
Utility" found at http://www.chapura.com/downloads_utilities.php

I had made a
backup by exporting to csv for my contacts incase my computer ever
crashed.

You are misguided thinking that a csv is a valid backup. Never use
export/import in order to transfer data Outlook-to-Outlook. Just make
a
copy of the original PST while Outlook is closed.
