Never get rid of the origional data until you know beyond a doubt the new

You'll need to modify each bad contact to force Outlook to resolve the
address. One tools that can help is the *free* "Resolve E-mail Address
Utility" found at
http://www.chapura.com/downloads_utilities.php
I had made a
backup by exporting to csv for my contacts incase my computer ever
crashed.
You are misguided thinking that a csv is a valid backup. Never use
export/import in order to transfer data Outlook-to-Outlook. Just make a
copy of the original PST while Outlook is closed.
