on #1 - they wanted 1 calendar - all departments would be combined? you can
do it with views - but they will need to add a keyword or category for
their department as the filter doesn't work with group membership and other
AD fields.

#2 - at the very least you'd need a custom form. There are some
applications listed at http://www.slipstick.com/addins/calendar_billing.asp
that may work for you.

Really looking at ideas or suggestions to see if there is a way to
accomodate both requests. If it's bty third party apps, then I'm up
for suggestions on this also.

Users are a mix match of OUtlook 2003 and 2007 accessing an exchange
server.
