To delete the recurring appointment all you need to do is use the DELETE
button.

The "remove recurrence" would only make the meeting a non-recurring meeting.
It would not remove the meeting, only the fact that it is recurring.

If you want to keep the meeting history (previous meetings that were part of
the
recurrance) then you could set the recurring meeting to END today. This
would
stop the future meetings from showing on your calendar, but keep the
previous
ones.
