Default Security Certificate for OE 6

Does 'checked' mean that you have reentered the settings?

Dear ---------

my server names and settings on both computers are updated to their
current
requirements of ATT or Sbcglobal, whatever you want to call them. Both
computers have those settings. I get the error message on one computer
and
not the other (the old gateway). I have checked many times to make sure
the names are all correct. I know what they are.

Mail Server (POP, SMTP) Settings

Your Email Address: Incoming (POP) Outgoing (SMTP)

pop.att.yahoo.com smtp.att.yahoo.com

Incoming mail server: POP3

Outgoing mail server: Outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication
Incoming mail port #: 995, secure connection (SSL) checked
Outgoing mail port #: 465, secure connection (SSL) checked

Windows MCE 2005, here, and MS Outlook Express 6.00.2900.2180.

“Your server you are connected to is using a security certificate that
could
not be verified. The certificate’s CN name does not match the passed
value.”

This happens when I have the advanced email settings set to what my ISP
has
updated to -------“This server requires a secure connection SSL
checked and
the ports to SMPT 465 and the POP3 port to 995.”

How many times must you be told. Stop using 'smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com'
and
'pop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com'. They, not MSOE, have the incorrect security
certificates. They are ***NOT*** included in your ISP Help files to be
used
with the secure ports.

I am of the opinion that the problem may be in the Internet Settings.

You are 100%, absolutely wrong.

I have read and read and tried this and that and it is still there.

Then you have not changed your servers to the correct server names.

My 2nd computer, an old gateway running windows 2000 pro does not have
that
problem. I have the email settings the same updated way. Now, the C
drive
on that computer was complete reformatted and reinstalled about a
month. I
do not feel like doing that on my main computer as it takes forever.

Calling the ISP is a waste of time.

If you have any solutions outside of reinstalling xp pro, my ears are
open.

RTFM! He

http://helpme.att.net/article.php?item=287

In case you can't RTFM...

'smtp.att.yahoo.com'
'pop.att.yahoo.com'

And, please, don't waste the 'at&t Yahoo! HSI' CSR's time with phone
calls.
If you obstinately, and stubbornly insist on using the wrong server
names,
nothing will change. They can't fix stubbornness.

P.S. I have been an 'at&t Yahoo! HSI' customer since two years before
there
was an "SBC Yahoo! DSL Service". In case you haven't figured out why I
know
what I am talking about. I have already been through this mess.
