Default Problem Getting OE to Recognize Location of Store Folder

To Kath and Michael,

After doing what Kath said, and reading the insideoe.com info, it occurred
to me to simply copy the source Inbox, Sent, and Deleted DBX files. When I
did they all messages were visible. Thanks again for your help.

Dear Kath,

Thanks for the recommendation. Unfortunately, it didn't work. I imported for
one identity to the original C:\windows\application data\identities\{long
name}, which was acknowledged as having worked. Then I created a new
destination on the D drive, did a change for message store to that location,
then shut down and rebooted. I still do not see the messages for that
identity. Any other ideas?

Import the folders back again. Then create the new destination folder,
then tell OE to move the store.

Okay. I did it in the wrong way. But my complete data now resides on
both the C and D drives, yet is not recognized by OE. Do you or
anyone else know how to get OE to recognize where the data are?

When you want to move the store folders, the proper procedure is to
make sure that the destination folder exists, then in OE tell it the
new destination (Tools, Options, Maintenance, Store Folder). Then
restart OE. It will move the files. If you manually move the
files, you run the risk of losing all your messages.

I use Windows98SE. Recently, I installed an additional hard drive
and tried
to move the store folder locations for the 3 identities that I use
to that D
drive. I mistakenly copied the originals (from Windows/Application
Data/Identities) to D:/email. When I try to change the store
location OE
doesn't recognize where my files are and shows an empty inbox.
Currently I 1
store location pointing to the original C location for 1 identity,
and another pointing to the D for another identity. Yet neither is
recognized
properly by OE. What do I do to fix this?
