Default Using the search returns no results outlook 2007

We run Windows XP, MS Exchange 2000, Office 2007 suite. The search method is
by typing a name into the Search Contacts field that sits on the top right
hand side of screen. If you type the name into the Search Address Books it
will find it but not if you input into Search Contacts. And I have checked
that the contacts are marked as email address books. It seems that I need to
resave the contacts file as something else so that 2007 will pick it up...I
dont know...and I dont have an IT person to help me here.

My boss is running office 07 and when he searches in his contacts it
returns
no results even though you can see the name sitting in phone list. He
has
a
laptop and is running in cache and because he takes his laptop home so
it
needs to be in cache so his emails are stored up to date when he turns
it
on
at home. I suspect this is why its not searching his contacts properly.
I
should add that any new additions or changes to old contacts it will
find,
just nothing pre the change from 03 to 07. Any ideas on what to do?
thanks
