With 30 windows open at once, the flashing one may be hidden on row 2 or 3
or small enough that its easily overlooked. - it happens to me all the time
with incoming IMs when the speaker is off (as it is 99% of the time) - and I
only have about 10 windows across 5 apps open in the course of normal usage,
more when I'm working on a specific project.

I'm afraid I'm very good at ignoring windows that hang around
somewhere in the background among the 30 or so other windows ;-)
But the Task Bar handle flashes. How can you ignorfe that? There is
seldom a good technological solution to a behavioral problem. I can't
believe you're not trainable.
