Vince

Sorry for the delay..been cloistered

Fixed the problem by first unistalling Powerpoint, reinstalling it , then
running detct and repair, then under control panel and folder options under
the General tab, restored defaults, under the View tab, restored defaults,
and under the File Types tab, associated pps file extension with
Powerpoint..hey presto it all works. Thanks for your help.

Vince thanks for the advice but I do not know how to run a detect and
repair
under powerpoint. I suspect you are correct though as I sent the e-mail to
my
main computer at home and no probs in opening.I've opened powerpoint and
looked at all options under that offered and I cannot find detect and
repair,
I also tried shifting the file to the desktop to scrutinise but power
point
will only look at the folder not the content file, it recomends outlook to
open and thus I go round in circles
