After furious head scratching, Robbo asked:

| Whenever I create a new appointment in my calendar it automatically
| creates a recurrence every week.
| When I first create the appointment I do not even open the recurrence
| tab, I then save and close the appointmnet and all is fine up to this
| point, but if I then re-open the appointment and invite attendee/s the
| appointment will automaticall add the recurrence.
