Default Laptop loading Internet pages Slowly

Not really enough information for the wise ones (not me the ones who have a
vague idea what they are doing) to reply, but many if not most slowdowns are
malware related, your pc might be loading huge amounts of data and sending
heaps of mail, without your assistance, so the perception is slowdown

The problem I am having is that my laptop (running XP home edition) has
started loading internet pages slowly. This is weird because it wasn't
doing this before. Furthermore, my desktop (running XP Professional) is
doing just fine in terms of page loading speed. The desktop has the
wireless receiver attached to it. But the laptop is running the internet
off the home network. What gives?
