Default Updating appointments in the calendar

When updates are made to events, the reminder will still pop up for the
original time e.g. If an event for today is updated to another date,
the reminder will appear for the original time of the scheduled
meeting. Changing the reminder time in the event does however prevent
this from occuring again (sort of a workaround).

Does anyone have suggestions, or should I just chalk this up to a
software limitation?
