Default HELP HELP - Importing Contacts from Excel List

Russ,

I've always been confused by this issue of address book vs. Outlook
contacts. You're right that Outlook contacts that don't have valid
electronic addresses don't appear in the address book, but I'm left
wondering what the address book is used for when you have Outlook contacts?

I guess the question for TotallyConfused has to be; do the contacts that
don't appear in the address book appear in the Outlook contacts folder? If
they do, then you did import them correctly, but as Russ says, some of them
don't have resolved electronic addresses.

Underlined. That indicates Outlook recognizes them as valid electronic
addresses. If they're not underlined, they won't show up.

yes I stored the fax numbers in the business fax field. What do you mean
are
they resolved. Thank you.

Only electronic addresses appear in the Outlook Address Book.
Did you store your fax numbers in a fax field and are they resolved?

message news I mapped the field correctly. I did not use an email address on these
contacts we do not need only need name, ph and fax numbers. If the
list
is
not showing when I open the address book and go to contacts then where
would
they be? Is there somewhere where I can see an example or walks you
through
step by step? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

No such limit. It appears you did not import correctly.
Look in your Contacts Folder and see.
Are the email addresses mapped to the correct field? Are they valid
and
resolved?

I have imported a Contact list of Excel. But when I look in my
address
book
under Contacts my list is not complete. Is there a limit to how
many
contacts you can import? I have over 2000. Also is there a way to
eliminate
the "file" version of the contact I just want the name, ph and fx
number
to
show. My Excel sheet consists of three columns Name, ph and fx
number.
I
would like to get this rights others will need to import the same
list
to
their address book. Thank you.
