What's backing up my folders?

From time to time, something makes backup copies of all my OE folders and
puts them in the recycle bin: inbox.bak, sent.bak, deleted items.bak, etc.
What's doing this? Can I turn it off?

Your suggestion for dealing with groups didn't work for me. My old computer
(Win98SE) couldn't find the WAB. I think it's because I have only an

I'm trying to export the address book from OE 6.00.2600 (Win98SE) and import
it into OE 6.00.2900 (Win XP), but I get an error on the import side.
