A single isolated report is anecdote, not proof, especially if you were
using an upgrade installation from an earlier version. Interesting report,
but it has not been reported and has not been...

Copying contacts into Word

You can easily save a DL as an RTF file and open it in Word. Make sure you
do all this in your Contacts Folder, never the address book view.

Those are distribution lists that exist in the Contacts Folder (no data
exists in the Outlook Address Book). DL's contain names and electronic
addresses only: nothing else. That's why your question...

.pst not compatible with this version (2003)

Never that I've seen. The "incompatible with current version" message is
only generated by trying to open UNICODE PST files in Outlook 2002 or
earlier. The read only tag or a corrupt PST generates...

State the global preference you set for the File As... field and how the
name elements are parsed in the Full Name dialog. I bet it will explain what

.pst not compatible with this version (2003)

There is no such thing as a PST file that is incompatible with Outlook 2003.
The only action that throws that error message is trying to open an Outlook
2003 PST file in an older version of...

compatible with older versions.

You can't. How phone numbers are masked is hard coded. The manufacturers of
your mobile phone know that. If they expect to synch with Outlook, they must
write the correct software.
