popup balloon on process

Hi All,

I would like to know if it is possible to have a popup balloon (like
when email is coming in)
to notify that a process has been run.
I have a code that checks when email comes in if it comes from user X,
if so the attachments
on the email(s) will be saved in folder Y. When this process is
completed I want to notify the
user with a popup balloon that stays up for say 8 seconds that the
process was completed and
n attachments saved in folder Y.

You can use a form for that and pop it up and close it when a timer fires.
If you want something more like the Outlook toast then you need a third
party control from a vendor. I've seen controls like that in the CodeJock
set and I'm sure other vendors also offer similar controls.

Would something like this work in Outlook?

That code is only for when the mouse hovers over a system tray icon. It
won't do what you want unless you rewrite it from scratch and somehow create
a window with the desired transparency. The message hook would be completely
irrelevant.

Of course I would leave the form out and only use the code in the bas.
I just need to call the balloon when new email attachments have been
saved.
It would then automatically clear after 7 secs or when someone click
the balloon.

Is there another way to do this?

There are probably many ways to do what you want, I've used 3rd party
controls which are already debugged and don't take a lot of time to program
and set up from scratch.

Ken,

Could you tell me what 3rd party you used.
It might be something for me also.

As I mentioned before, it was a part of the CodeJock set of controls. I'm
sure there are other similar controls out there also.
