Outlook Script to Add records to database
We are developing a helpdesk application and would like to add the ability
to create call (records in the database) automatically from the email sent to a specific mailbox. For example if the user sends a mail with "New" in the subject line then we want to run a SQL statement like this Insert Into Calls (Subject, Details) Values ( EmailSubject , EmailBody) We would also like the possibility to update record with the information i.e. if someone sends an email with the following subject line Update: 204 i.e. update record id 204 with the information contained in the email hence the query will be Update Calls Set Description = EmailBody where id=204 I have look around and it appears this can be done through VBScript or VBA or VB. Has anyone done anything like this before? Any code links or sample code to modify. The application and the database will be internal and we are running mixture of Outlook 2003/2000 on Microsoft Exchange server 2000 Any help is greatly appreciated. |
