Default CAN OUTLOOK DO?

Hi. I have to develop a calendar application that controls personal diary
information and merge it with a SQL server database informatrion. I know
that outlook allows programming, but I don't know if I can do what I need:

- Can I make a form with estandar form event of outlook and add controls to
read and write in a SQL server database?
- Can I have multiple users in outlook database and add an event to all
users diary?
- Can I see in the same view, a day or week view, for example, the events of
all users?.

If I can do that, what I need?. can I develop it with .NET?, or with
infopath?, or with COM?. I must to install Exchange?.

Thanks for your information.

It sounds like you'd need a custom Calendar form if you need to read from a
database. You can create custom fields to hold the database fields, which
you'd read using ADO code in the VBScript behind the form. ADO can use OLEDB
or ODBC connections to communicate with the database.

For reading/displaying multiple Calendars, that's more a function of the
built-in delegation features of Exchange or rights to open additional
mailboxes. Public Folder Calendars could also be a consideration.

You may want to check out htttp://www.sqlview.net which lets you store all
types of Outlook items in a SQL database (without syncronization). User can
then share any items that are under the SQLView root folder. You can
add/modify/delete the data by writing directly to the sql database.

Oh, Michael,

I couldn't find the original post in which you asked about controlling which
stores are indexed with the content indexer in Outlook 2007 so I'm answering
you here.

You can't control which stores are indexed on a store by store basis, but
you can see if a store is indexed using the Store.IsInstantSearchEnabled
Boolean.
