User defined fields
Q1: - Renaming UDF
A1: - No facility within Outlook Q2 - Deleting UDFs A2 - There is a short and a little longer answer to this. Short answer: to actually delete a UDF from individual contacts that contain a value for a specific field, you must delete each UDF on a contact by contact basis Expanded version: Any UDF added to a contact item will be added to the "User-defined fields in folder" list. Deleting a UDF from this list does not result in the fields being deleted at the contact level. There is no facility within Outlook to bulk delete UDF fields. What will happen is that the UDF will will no longer be accessible in any view and becomes what we refer to as an "orphan" user-defined field. When the UDF is removed from the folder list, the only way to know which contact has the UDF is to open each individual contact and view the "User-defined fields in this item list". A UDF only becomes part of a contact item when a value is actually entered into the field (for contacts using the standard message class IPM.Contact). You may find ContactGenie Toolkit of interest which has several functions specifically addressing the above scenarios enabling you to do what you asked about- http://www.contactgenie.com/cgtoolkit.htm The above is based on the assumption that a custom form is not in use. If it is - just need to delete the field from the custom form, re-publish the form and you're all done. Nothing extra is required.
