Search Contacts for Fax Number
Does anyone know how to or can you search Outlook 2007 for an individual fax
number? I have a massive fax distrobution list that was built by someone else and I need to remove several of the fax numbers. thanks, jf |

Which of Outlook's search functions did you try? You can't use Instant
Search for fax fields. Try Advanced Find... All bets are off with a DL, however. I can't think of an idea worse than creating a large DL of fax numbers. Someone didn't know how Outlook works. -- Russ Valentine "jason" wrote in message ... Does anyone know how to or can you search Outlook 2007 for an individual fax number? You can search fax numbers as well with Instant Search. In the Instant
Search field type; businessfax:0123456789 (of course replace the number with the real fax number) But you're correct; it won't help you if they are contained in a DL. -- Robert Sparnaaij [MVP-Outlook] Coauthor, Configuring Microsoft Outlook 2003 http://www.howto-outlook.com/ Outlook FAQ, HowTo, Downloads, Add-Ins and more http://www.msoutlook.info/ Real World Questions, Real World Answers ----- "Russ Valentine" wrote in message ... Instant Search doesn't work here, even with that format.

It works for me but it is quite picky in the notation. It has to be exactly
as entered in Outlook and if it contains spaces, you'll have to put it between quotes. So for a specific Dutch fax number that I have, I have to type; businessfax:"+31 123456789" If I do that, I get the exact match for that person. If I leave out the businessfax: part, I don't get any results at all so by default Instant Search does not include that field when searching. -- Robert Sparnaaij [MVP-Outlook] Coauthor, Configuring Microsoft Outlook 2003 http://www.howto-outlook.com/ Outlook FAQ, HowTo, Downloads, Add-Ins and more http://www.msoutlook.info/ Real World Questions, Real World Answers ----- "Russ Valentine" wrote in message ... When has Instant Search not been broken? I know the drills. Index has been
recreated. Index is up to date. I'm staying with Advanced Find until they find the cure for Instant Find's schizophrenia.
