There is the problem. Unlike other programs, you cannot upgrade an Outlook
installation because your Outlook profile becomes corrupt if you try. It's ridiculous, I know, but it's true. In the future, remember always to install Outlook clean. It should be easy to remedy the problem by simply creating a new Outlook profile. Before you do, however, make sure you know the location of your current Outlook data file and then back it up for good measure. Create a new Outlook profile as described he http://support.microsoft.com/default...roduct=out2003 A new profile will create a new empty Outlook data file, which of course you will not want to use. At that point, you will need to open your existing Outlook data file in Outlook so that you can use it instead, then set it as your default data file. Then restart Outlook and close the empty PST file the new profile created. After that you should be able to set your Contacts Folder as an Email Address Book and have it appear. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Cheryl" wrote in message ... I'm not sure how to answer your question. I installed 2007 from the cd and I believe that it asked if I wanted to upgrade the 2003 version that I already had. When it was finished upgrading I opened outlook and my pst file was showing with all the emails that I had before I upgraded. "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: Still need to know how you migrated your data to Outlook 2007. Have you made sure you're displaying the correct Contacts Folder and not a new, empty one the new profile might have created? -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] |

Russ,
I followed these instructions and did not have any errors or problems. When I am in outlook I am still getting the same issue though. If I go toToolsAccount SettingsAddress Books, Outlook Address Book is the only option in the list. Then if I go to the Contacts tabPropertiesOutlook Address Book it says Contacts is the name of my address book and the box that says Show this folder as an email address book is checked and grayed out. Post the steps used to create your new profile and migrate your data to that
profile. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Cheryl" wrote in message ... Russ, I followed these instructions and did not have any errors or problems. Do you know if MS is working on a fix for the contacts to address book issue
in Outlook 2007? "Diane Poremsky [MVP]" wrote: If you have Contacts in the Contacts folder but they are not accessible when you click on the To button, check these settings: Make sure the Contact folder is enabled as an email address book. Right click the Contacts folder, choose Properties then Outlook Address Book. Is the box to enable as email address book is checked? If this is grayed out... Go to Tools | Email Accounts, choose View or change existing directories or address book. Is the Outlook Address Book present? If it isn't listed, add it and close and restart Outlook. If it is listed, then remove it and close then restart Outlook and repeat these steps to add it. If you are using Outlook 2007 and the the checkbox is grayed, you'll need to make a new profile as you can't add the Outlook Address Book service due to a bug. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Outlook Tips by email: EMO - a weekly newsletter about Outlook and Exchange: "Cheryl" wrote in message ... Hi, I just upgraded from Office 2000 to 2007. Everything seemed to work fine on upgrading outlook until I tried to view my contacts as the outlook address book. I found instructions on changing settings within outlook to make this happen but nothing has worked so far. Any help would be great! |

Strongly doubt it. It's not an easy fix because it has to do with migrating
profile settings. Outlook 2010 has many improvements in that area, but I can't imagine we'd see them in Outlook 2007. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Jim" wrote in message ...
