Default email addresses automatically added to contacts folder

I have several contact folders set up as subfolders of the main contacts
folder in Outlook 2003. When I reply to an email from a contact who's email
address is not in the main contact folder but is in one of my subfolders
their email address is automatically added to the main contacts folder. So
esentially, there is no point in having the contact sub folders, because it
keeps adding everything to the main contacts folder. Is there a way to turn
this feature off. I am getting quite frustrated any help would be great.

Outlook 2003 has no such feature and cannot do what you claim without custom
code or an add-in.
Complete your explanation.
