How do I prevent a Contact being opened by more than one user?
How do I prevent a Contact from being opened by more than one user at a time?
Both my assistant and I can open my Contacts for editing in Outlook. However, Outlook allows for the same Contact to be opened at the same time by both of us. When the second person attempts to Save|Close the Contact, only then does an error message occur (offering to duplicate the Contact in the same folder). The preference is to prevent the second person from openning the Contact, just like any computer file cannot be opened by two people at the same time. Much appreciated if anyone can assist me with this. |

Hi Jeff,
this is not possible. Everybody with the rights to "read" a contact can open the contact. If I only need the telephone number to call somebody, it makes no sense that it would not be allowed for me, only why another person has also open the contact before me. You will get a message only if both users change the same contact. If somebody has the rights to read a contact, it is allowed for him to open the contact. You can not limit this. -- Oliver Vukovics Share Outlook without Exchange (Vista Ready): Public ShareFolder Synchronize Outlook between PC and Notebook: Public SyncTool http://www.publicshareware.com "Jeff in Hamilton" Jeff in schrieb im Newsbeitrag ...
