Default Add My Categories into the Master Category List

I exported my contacts with the catergories in a pst folder. I need to
install exsiting categories on another computer. When I import my contacts I
lose my created catergories in the "Master Category List". How do I get my
created categories into the "Master Category List" without having to retype
them.

Do you have access to the old computer? If so, add all the categories to an
item - then copy the list of categories from the 'items belong to these
categories' field in the categories dialog (or from the categories field on
the item) and paste it into a text file. move it to the new computer and
paste the list into that field.

I am having a similar problem but with Outlook 2007. i just upgraded from
2003 and my previously created categories show up but say 'not in the master
category list'. i would like to merge them in or even reclassify to the new
color scheme but am unsure how to do this

In OL07, right click the top folder (Personal Folders), choose Properties,
and click Upgrade to Color Categories. That should do it.

Default Add My Categories into the Master Category List

The two suggestions made in this thread depend on your outlook version. More
comfortable, and independent from the used Outlook version, does it work
with Category Manager (link in my signature). You can import, and export
your categories, and add them easily from items to the Master Category List.
