Why do names in my distribution list revert to email addresses?

I have created a distribution list in my outlook contacts. When I set it up
I listed names and corresponding email addresses. But now when I go back
into contacts and double click on my distribution list, I see two columns of
identical email addresses, even though the left column heading is "Name" and
right column heading is "E-mail". I've even double-clicked on each row one
at a time and edited them by re-typing each name again and then clicking
"Save and Close". But then, after closing out of Outlook and then going in
again later, lo and behold the names are gone again and once again I see two
columns of identical email addresses. What can I do to fix this? Please
help. Thanks.

State how you added recipients to this list. You should add the members from
a Contacts Folder.
