Default distribution list disappeared!

I sent a message out to a large distribution list and, after receiving a
number of failure notices, I was deleting the out-of-date addresses from the
list. Then I created another message but the distribution list no longer
exists! Could I have inadvertently deleted the whole list? How (so I don't
make that mistake again)? Is there a way to get it back?

It's quite easy to delete the entire list. If you don't click the "Remove"
button, but instead press Delete or click the "X" button in the toolbar, you
will delete the entire list. It will be in your Deleted Items folder,
unless you emptied it.

Default distribution list disappeared!

I realized that I had more info after I sent the first message:

I am using Outlook 2003, SP3.

I removed only individual addresses and then clicked save and close. I
don't think I ever got near the X. Also, the list is not in my Deleted Items
folder and I have not emptied it. I created a test list, deleted the list,
found it in Deleted Items and moved it back into Contacts, so I see how that
would work IF the missing list were in Deleted Items.

Any other possibilities?

Thanks,
Helena

Then it should still be in the Contacts folder.

How many Contacts folders do you have? Have you tried resetting the
Contacts folder's view?
